Trin-Trin of the Apocalypse!

Six years ago today, I lost a really good friend from high school in a motorcycle accident. This happened within a week of the death and funeral of my grandmother – one of the three women who raised me. This was part of an eighteen month period where I experienced four significant losses – beginning with the loss of my Grandfather (the only father-figure I’ve ever known) and ended with the death of Shetland Sheepdog, Mesha. Given that my world was irreparably broken and I was so emotionally fragile, as much as I wanted to, I couldn’t bring myself to attend two funerals within the same seven day period.

 I did, however, attend the visitation to pay my respects to his family.

Anyhow, a year and a bit after his death, I was in Paris watching a show at the Moulin Rouge. The lead male dancer bore an uncanny resemblance to this friend. I know it’s not true but sometimes I like to think that he’s not really gone and that he’s just living out his dream of being a dancer there. It makes days like this a little easier to get through.
